BUYING A SULFATE FILTER FOR THE WHOLE HOUSE – A SIMPLE GUIDE
An ion-exchange Sulfate Filter is a highly effective and popular technology used by many homeowners to filter sulfate from well water. There are a wide variety of systems on the market so it can be overwhelming when trying to find one that meets your household's exact requirements. If you are currently looking for a whole house sulfate removal system and want to know how you can benefit from using a water filter, what to look for in a filter system and what questions you should be asking, then this guide is for you.

If, after reading our information, you still have some unanswered questions our team at RainDance Water Systems are happy to help. We can be contacted at [email protected] or 1-877-788-8387.

What is a whole house sulfate filter?
A point of entry (POE) sulfate filter, also known as a whole house sulfate filter is installed at the main-line of your plumbing where water enters your house or business. This type of filter removes high sulfates in your kitchen and at other taps throughout your house should you want it; such as your bathroom, all sinks or utility room. Whole House Sulfate Filter Systems are one of the best solutions for filtering well water you use throughout your home.

How do I know if my well water needs a sulfate filter?
The Sulfate Eater filters high sulfates at every tap, so they may be suitable for any household that needs high quality water for any reason.
There are many reasons why some homeowners choose a whole house sulfate filter system over other technologies. For example, a whole house reverse osmosis system will also remove sulfate but costs between $5,000-$10,000! A whole house reverse osmosis also requires a separate water softener whereas the Sulfate Eater removes both sulfates and hard water without requiring additional equipment.

Basically, if you need water to be of a higher quality than your private well water supply, then a sulfate filter system might work for you.  As there are many different well water filters to choose from, it is worth having your water analyzed.  Before you purchase any filter for your well we recommend that you obtain a water quality test report for your well water supply, which will help identify any issues that are essential to deal with and those you may wish to improve. If you have a water report please email us at [email protected] Attn: Whole House Sulfate Filter

What size sulfate filter do I need?
It’s really important to take the size of your household into account when choosing a whole house water filtration system. The higher the number of occupants, the more water will be used.

Each sulfate filter listed below have a maximum flow rate for optimum water filtration. The flow rate is measured in gallons/minute. The flow rate is the measure of the amount of water that can run through your house faucets—dishwashers, washing machine, showers, hot water heaters, and toilet. When planning to buy your well water filter, make sure to know the demand of your appliances and water dispensers in your home. For example, a typical showerhead has a flow rate of 2.5-5 gallons per minute while dishwashers and toilets have flow rates of 5 gpm and 3 gpm respectively. Depending on the size of your family, the number of water dispensers, and the flow rate of each dispenser, a RainDance professional can help you calculate the right flow rate that your filter should have.
Our most recent Sulfate Eater projects include: Missouri Untreated Sulfates 750ppm, after our Sulfate Eater 5ppm - Wyoming Untreated Sulfates 1275ppm, after our Sulfate Eater 10ppm - Texas Untreated Sulfates 630ppm, after our Sulfate Eater Not Detected - New Mexico Untreated Sulfates 1480ppm, after our Sulfate Eater 8ppm - Maryland Untreated Sulfates 900ppm, after our Sulfate Eater 5ppm - Colorado Untreated Sulfates 1025ppm, after

High levels of sulfate (above 250 ppm or mg/l) can cause diarrhea and dehydration, particularly dangerous for infants, the elderly, and individuals with certain health conditions- as well as plumbing corrosion. Our Sulfate Eater removes high sulfates to below 250ppm or to non-detectable levels!
Are you aware of your sulfate levels and the quality of your well water? If you already have a recent water test, we’d be happy to review it and recommend the most effective filtration system tailored to your specific needs. Simply send us your water test results via email or attach the report to our LIVE CHAT for an immediate response from one of our RainDance Specialists.

If you haven’t had your water tested yet, we highly encourage you to take advantage of our free water testing service. Our team will analyze your water’s chemistry and help you select the best sulfate filtration solution to ensure clean, safe water for your home, business & farm.
