What are Tannins?
Tannins are often made up of organic materials, finding their way into water sources which have passed through large quantities of decaying vegetation.
When do Tannins become a problem in water sources?
Tannins are not a concern for health, but may result in aesthetic and cosmetic issues. Tannins measuring 0.5 PPM or higher may cause staining, yellow color, bad taste, and/or interference with various water treatment processes.
What are the problems associated with Tannins?
Tannins can cause yellow water and yellow staining on fabrics and fixtures.
What treatment methods have been proven to be effective for removal or reduction of Tannins?
Tannins require specialized filter media specifically created to take care of Tannins or reverse osmosis and nanifiltration have shown to provide tannin filtration. .
