High recovery low waste 3000gpd Whole House Nano-Filtration Membrane Packages from RainDance Water Systems. Standard Reverse Osmosis Membranes send 3-4 (sometimes more) gallons of water to the drain for each gallon of purified water produced. Our Well Water Whole House nanofiltration water purification packages are designed to save water and have a 1 to 1 ratio or greater on purified water to rejected water - Double the recovery over standard reverse osmosis elements. Nanofiltration is a liquid separation membrane technology positioned between reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF). A nanofiltration filter has a pore size around 0.001 micron. Nano Membranes provide high productivity performance while reducing a high percentage of salts, nitrate, and organic compounds such as pesticides, herbicides and THM precursors. The low net driving pressure NF membrane allows the removal of these compounds at low operating pressures. NF also removes hardness from water, which accounts for NF membranes sometimes being called “softening membranes” – NF is an attractive alternative to lime softening or zeolite salt regenerating type softening technologies.

What's the difference between a Nano-Membrane and Reverse Osmosis Membrane?
Nano filtration water treatment is much the same as reverse osmosis technology. The key difference is the lower rejection levels - nano filtration is used where the high purity of reverse osmosis is not necessary. Reverse osmosis systems remove up to 99% of dissolved minerals whereas the nano membrane removes only around 80-90% (nominal) of dissolved minerals. This means that the softened filtered water contains a partial mineral content which provides a good mineral taste while filtering excessive hardness, chemicals, nitrates, sulfates, pesticides, insecticides, and off taste components. Our nanofiltration systems offer a cost-effective alternative to commercial & light commercial reverse osmosis units, as nano filtration systems can be operated at lower operating pressures and typically do not require the addition of a separate water softener.

SIMPLE OPERATION: Quick Guide On How Our Whole House Nano Water Purifier Works: pressurized water from your city treated or well water source enters the attached dual prefilter cartridge system which protects the nano system removing sediment, rust, chloramine, chlorine, THMs and organic chemicals - then this “pre-filtered” water enters the Nano water purification system. This “Nano Purified Water” then enters the pH neutralizer / remineralizer then begins to fill the near-by storage tank. The Nano water will continue to fill the storage tank until the included tank float switch closes and shuts the entire system off. When there is a demand for water your re-pressure delivery pump is activated and draws “Nano Purified Water” from the storage tank to your taps. If enough water is used to the point where the float switch is reopened, the Nano system is automatically reactivated and begins to replace the Nano water in the tank that has been depleted.

The Nano Water Filtration System requires these simple, easy-to-replace filters to be changed for optimum performance:
- Sediment prefilter should be replaced every 4 months*
- Carbon prefilter should be replaced every 4 months*
- The nano membrane(s) should be replaced every 2 to 4 years*
*Some water sources may contain contaminants that can clog the pore structure of the nano membrane or filters, requiring a more frequent replacement interval. A decreased flow of product water over a relatively short time can indicate that the membrane or filters needs to be replaced.
If this system is going to a vacation home, cabin, or will otherwise be unused for a period of time, our Nano Series is able to sit inactive until needed, but it should be flushed by turning it on for 5 or 10 minutes about every six months just to keep the membrane clean and ensure that it operates properly. Depending on how often the system is used and the quality of the water it's filtering, the membrane and filters may be replaced less often.
