What is Nano-Filtration?
​Nanofiltration is a membrane filtration-based method that uses nanometer sized through-pores that pass through the membrane. Nanofiltration membranes have pore sizes from 1-10 nanometers, smaller than that used in microfiltration and ultrafiltration, but just larger than that in reverse osmosis.
​Nano filtration water treatment is much the same as reverse osmosis technology. The key difference is the lower rejection levels - nano filtration is used where the high salt rejection of reverse osmosis is not necessary. Our Nano filtration systems offer a cost-effective alternative to  whole house reverse osmosis units as nanofiltration systems can be operated at lower pressures and provide hard water softening, known as membrane softening. This eliminates the need for an additional water softener, saving the customer time, money, and salt maintenance from a typical softener. The level of dissolved solids to be removed is less than what is typically encountered in brackish water or seawater. 
Nano Membranes provide high productivity performance while removing a high percentage of salts, TDS, nitrate, uranium, turbidity, bacteria, cysts, and organic compounds such as pesticides, herbicides and THM precursors.  Applications include whole house water treatment - drinking water - water softening - commercial filtration - farming - agriculture - livestock - greenhouses - irrigation - and more!

​How do I know if my well water needs a nanofiltration system?
Nanofiltration technology produces purified water, so it may be suitable for any household that needs high quality water for any reason.
There are many reasons why some homeowners choose a nano membrane system over other technologies. For example, water purified using an nanofiltration system may be used to remove total dissolved solids (TDS) from well water. For other applications the nano membrane filter may be used to soften hard water and other contaminants such as uranium, nitrates, pollutants, chemicals and more.

​What size whole house nanofiltration filter do I need?
The usual sizing formula for a Whole House Nano-Membrane System is 100gpd per person plus miscellaneous uses. You'll then double this number to find the appropriately-sized nano system. For example, if the usage needs 400gpd then an 800gpd nano system would be appropriate. This allows the accommodation of continuous use plus some extra capacity in case the usage increases in the future.

Keep in mind that an nano membranes rated capacity (gallons per day, or GPD) means what the system can produce in a full 24 hour period. For example, an 800gpd Nano system can produce 800 gallons in 24 hours, or approximately 0.5 gallons per minute (GPM). This is why a separate water storage tank and repressurization pump are needed to deliver high flow, pressurized purified water to multiple taps.
